When your BMW is in need of some type of repair, maintenance checkup, or a routine service you should have a series of questions in your mind that you already know the answer to! Of course, we don’t expect you to be a car expert like us, but knowing the basis of what your car needs, will help us repair your BMW quicker and more efficiently!
Here are some questions you should ask yourself when you’re thinking about bringing your BMW into a shop:
- Is this shop I’m considering, of high quality?
If you’re looking for shops, you should first checkout their website, look at the services they have to offer, and maybe shoot the owner an email or give him or her a call to ask for an estimate for a certain repair or service. Also, checkout online reviews; most mechanics will have a couple of reviews. If you’re looking into Boston Motor Werks for your BMW needs, here are reviews about our services on Yelp and Google+ page!
- What kind of work does my BMW need?
You don’t need to know all of the correct terminology to describe what is wrong with your car; just give us a quick summary of what has been going on with your car: maybe the brakes are making a funny noise, you smell gas, it’s tough to steer, you smell gas, check engine light is on, etc. We will help walk you through your description, and based on this conversation, we will have a pretty good idea what is wrong with your car!
- What is the price of the repair?
Before you make your final decision, make sure you ask the shop for an estimate; most shops will provide free estimates for any repair or service that needs to be done to your car. Here at Boston Motor Werks, we always offer free estimates for any car we are about to work on!

You worked hard for the luxury of owning a BMW, let us help you maintain a well running machine! We believe that your BMW should go through regular maintenance checkups, just like you go to the doctor every few months or so for a physical.
This maintenance checkup is recommended for all cars, no matter the year or model of the BMW. Regular & Preventative Maintenance will help you avoid large repair bills in the future; so many issues on cars today can be avoided by following proper maintenance procedures.
There is and never will be a replacement for “old school” maintenance programs; despite advances in part and fluid technology that supposedly extends service intervals.
Oil changes are one of the most important parts of maintaining your BMW; dealerships and us have a differing opinion regarding oil changes. Dealerships recommend an oil change after 15,000 miles! Here at Boston Motor Werks, we recommend a synthetic oil change after 5,000 miles (for mineral oil cars, we recommend an oil change at 3,000).
Waiting for the 15,000 mile mark can lead to potential engine wear and damage. In the past we have seen pre-mature failures for a variety of parts, ranging from valvetronic eccentric shafts and levers, to crankcase vent valves, all the way up to standard engine seals; this is all due to not having their oil changed after the 5,000 mile mark, you combine that with New England weather and traffic, and it’s a recipe for disaster!
Once your car has reached 30,000 miles, we will perform an Inspection I, which includes an oil change, cabin filter, and if needed and often recommended, an engine air filter. After 60,000 miles we perform an Inspection II, where we will perform an oil change, engine air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, and differential fluid flush.
Our goal is to help our clients save money in the long run, and one sure way to do this is by following a strict maintenance program; these programs will help you avoid big expensive repair bills in the future!

Due to the poor quality of fuel these days, fuel systems have become more complicated and increasingly sensitive. Over the past few years, we have seen BMWs experiencing fuel pump and fuel injector failure due to poor fuel quality.
Carbon build can cause some serious damage to your car’s combustion engine; it causes increase fuel consumption, decreased performance, and poor running characteristics.
The way we can help improve your fuel system is by installing a fuel injection system that plugs directly in the fuel rail and thoroughly cleans the fuel injections. This is the most effective way to clean your system, without completely removing the system.
This service will help your BMW run more smoothly, the way a luxury car should. It not only improves the fuel efficiency of your vehicle, but it also increases the power and performance; this service is available for just about all recent models.
